WitnessCirca 1778Indian uprising, wife scalped, children survived, During his service with the War of the Revolution while away at cam an uprising of the Indians occurred. His wife was unable to escape and was scalped and his house laid waste. Four of his children escaped and his in the hollow of a tree, subsisting upon berries and water until a family of friendly Indians came along and took them to the fort and they were returned to their father.5
