Death* | 4 January 1967 | Honeoye Falls, Monroe, NY, USA, We offer this tribute to the memory of our beloved member, Eleanor Holden, who was for 48 years a devoted, loyal, and zealous worker in the Fortnightly Club. Hers was a long and well rounded life devoted to the interests of her home, her church and the community. Always willing to accept responsibilities, she acted as President from 1930 - 1932 and performed cheerfully and efficiently all the duties assigned her in the many offices and committees she served on throughout the years. She was proud of her record of attendance, rarely missing a meeting. She also contributed of her time and talents to the whole community. Every student in Honeoye Falls High School from 1908-1942 was influenced by her as Preceptress or teacher of Latin or art. Countless numbers of her students remember her keen interest in their intellectual pursuits and her wise counsel in their problems. In her church she practiced Christianity in the Sunday School, in the women's organizations and the official board, and as Financial Secretary. As a Library trustee she constantly supported the improvement and expansion of the town library. Honeoye Falls has indeed lost an ardent advocate of every worthy cause. Everyone living within the aura of her interests has been significantly influenced by this Christian woman. Such was her ministry for the community. By her family to whom she was so devoted and by her friends to whom she gave so freely, she will be sadly missed, but "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." The memory of Eleanor Holden will live in the hearts of all who were in any way touched by her. We express our deepest sympathy to her family, and we recommend that a copy of this testimony be placed in the minutes and a copy be sent to her two sons, her sister, and her brother.
